Prayer Warrior Mom: Covering Your KIds with God's Blessing's and Protection by Marla Alupoaicei

Prayer Warrior Mom : Covering Your Kids with God's Blessing's and Protection by Marla Alupoaicei

From Thomas Nelson

Book Description

Moms, are you struggling with patience? Worrying about your children’s spiritual development? Concerned about their social or behavioral issues? Wondering how to get it all done when there’s just never enough time?
Author Marla Alupoaicei knows that today’s Christian moms want to be the parents God intended. They desire to pray boldly and stand in the gap for their kids. But many mothers haven’t been equipped with the prayer skills, scriptural knowledge, and practical strategies to fight the spiritual battle for themselves and their children.
Marla is no stranger to these trials. She has felt the simmering frustration and discontentment that come from the constant tension of trying to do it all for her family. But as Marla began to turn everything over to God in prayer, He granted her an attitude of gratitude, the antidote to despair. “When you and I choose to praise the Lord, He will be fully present in our hearts, in our homes, and with our children,” she says.
In Prayer Warrior Mom, Marla invites you to walk with her through fifteen life-transforming principles that will empower you to effectively intercede for your children. Learn to cultivate your own attitude of gratitude, pray Scripture, be persistent, pray with power and authority, be your children’s #1 advocate, hear God’s voice above the noise of daily life, and much more!
“The only real power we have on this earth is the power of prayer. Our potent prayers for our kids connect them with the reality of God and His will for their lives,” Marla says.
Mom, this is your year. Your year of spiritual breakthrough. Your year to see your children start loving God and living for Him. What are you waiting for? Become a Prayer Warrior Mom today!

My Take:  I have always been a big believer in praying for our children and thought I would read this book.  I am definitely not the targeted group for this book as I am an older woman with three adult children and a small granddaughter.  But there was alot in this book that I could apply to my children and granddaughter.  This is a great jumping off point to praying for your children at what ever age they are but especially young Moms.

I received a review copy of this book by Thomas Nelson in exchange for my honest opinion.

Face of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl

Katie Converse disappears while taking her dog for a walk.  Enter the Triple Threat Club, Allison a Federal Prosecutor, Cassidy a tv reporter and Nicole a FBI special agent.  Allison is a Christian and relies on her faith to help her through the bad times, Nicole doesn't really believe in anything and Cassidy is into whatever is hot at the moment.
As they start to investigate the disappearance of Katie each one of them have other things going on in their lives, Allison is getting threats from someone but who could it be out of all the people who she has sent away to prison and their families, Nicole is on a special task force to catch online predators of pedophiles, and Cassidy has started a new relationship and is trying to work her way up the ladder in the competitve world of tv news.
This book was good in the fact that it did keep me guessing to the very end about who was responsible for the mystery surrounding Katie.  Several other subplots I thought where wrapped up a bit to tidyly and a bit to quickly like the author forgot that she had these other plots going and then at the end thought "oh Yeah we have to tie up these loose ends".  The book was compared to the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson.  I don't think this was as good as those but I was very entertained and will probably read the next in the series Hand of Fate when it come out in April.
I would recommend this book if you like thrillers and mysteries.  I read this book as part of BookSneeze the program from Thomas Nelson for Bloggers.

How to reach your Full Potential for God by Charles Stanley

This book is just what it says it is, a book on how to reach your full potential for your walk with God.  Charles Stanley says that he got the idea for the book one night when he woke up and felt that God was telling him to write this book.
Although I have heard all that Stanley said in his book before he presented in a way that made me stop and reexamine my life and what I was doing with it.
The chapter that really hit me the most was chapter 3 in which he gives seven hurdles that you need to overcome to reach your full potential.  I realized after reading this chapter that I need to overcome several hurdles that have been slowing my growth and potential.
Other chapters in the book cover what Stanley calls essentials.  These are such things as Clean Heart, clean Mind and one things that I think most people struggle with a balanced schedule.
I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for things that may be in the way for you reaching your full potential.

The White Horse King:The Life of Alfred the Great by Benjamin Merkle

I read this as a part of Thomas Nelson blogger review program.  I had never heard of Alfed but I have recently become interested in England and it's kings so I thought I would give it a try.  I found the sidebars that were put into the texts instead of using footnotes as very distracting and it did take away from my enjoyment of the book.  I would recommend this book however if you are interested in England and it's kings.
I have always been fascinated by the Vikings and I was interested to read about what Alfred did when attacked by the Vikings. I was interested in learning more about different customs they had and practiced.

I thought this was a very intesting book and I learned quite a bit.

Fearless by Max Lucado

"Fearless" tackles the subject of fear in today's world.  Max Lucado discusses with us different fears throughout the book.  One fact he stated was particularly telling to me, "ordinary children today are more fearful than psychiatric patients were in the 1950's" .   With biblical wisdom and witty illustrations Max Lucado explores the fears of today such as not protecting our children, violence, and death to name a few.
I really liked this book although it made me see I was more afraid than I realized. It also comforted me with all the scripture that says don't be afraid but trust in God.

Lonestar Secrets by Colleen Coble

Shannon Astor wants to make a better life for herself and her daughter Kylie.  When her uncle dies and leaves her his ranch this seems like the right move.  Shannon will have to face the members of the small town of Bluebird Crossing where she left five years before as an unwed mother.

Shannon has put herself through vet school and has returned to take over for Grady so he can spend more time in the ministry.  At the Mustang Makeover she meets her high school enemy Jack MacGowen and his daughter Faith who looks exactly like Shannon's daughter Kylie.  But that can't be because Kylie's twin sister died at birth.  Or did she?

This was a roller coaster of ride book.  It seemed like about every couple pages there was a new secret revealed which kept me turning the pages till the very end.  This was a mixture of thriller and romance.  I don't usually like romance books but this one had enough suspence to keep me interested till the very end.  Although God and faith were mentioned throughout the story it was not overbearing or "preachy".
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast paced raomance with alot of thrill packed in.
