Phoebe's LIght by Suzanne Woods Fisher

 Phoebe's Light (Nantucket Legacy #1)

Phoebe Starbuck has always adjusted her sails and rudder to the whims of her father. Now, for the first time, she's doing what she wants to do: marrying Captain Phineas Foulger and sailing far away from Nantucket. As she leaves on her grand adventure, her father gives her two gifts, both of which Phoebe sees little need for. The first is an old sheepskin journal from Great Mary, her highly revered great-grandmother. The other is a "minder" on the whaling ship in the form of cooper Matthew Mitchell, a man whom she loathes.

Soon Phoebe discovers that life at sea is no easier than life on land. Lonely, seasick, and disillusioned, she turns the pages of Great Mary's journal and finds herself drawn into the life of this noble woman. To Phoebe's shock, her great-grandmother has left a secret behind that carries repercussions for everyone aboard the ship, especially her husband the captain and her shadow the cooper. This story within a story catapults Phoebe into seeing her life in an entirely new way--just in time.

In this brand-new series, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher brings her signature twists and turns to bear on a fascinating new faith community: the Quakers of colonial-era Nantucket Island.

My Take:  This was a very good start to a new series.  I was very interested in the two story lines that were told that of Mary Coffin and the one of Phoebe Starbuck.  I haven't read many books about Quakers and I found it interesting that the Quakers seemed to punish others in almost the same way they were punished.  I found it interesting about the whaling industry and how they used the different parts of the whale.  I did find it odd that they didn't find a way to make candles yet.  I almost from the very beginning had a dislike for the Captain and felt that Phoebe wasn't paying attnetion to what he could be and that she was to starry eyed.  I think if you like books that deal with historical fiction that you would like this book.

Christmas at Rose Hill Farm by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Christmas at Rose Hill Farm: An Amish Love StoryAbout the book:

Bess Riehl is preparing Rose Hill Farm for her Christmas wedding, but her groom isn't who she thought it would be. Billy Lapp is far away from his Amish roots working as a rose rustler for Penn State and wants nothing to do with Stoney Ridge, his family, or Bess. And that suits Bess just fine. Why should she think twice about a man who left without a word, without any explanation? It's time she moved on with her life, and that meant saying yes to Amos Lapp, Billy's cousin and best friend. But as Bess and Amos's wedding day draws near, her emotions tangle into a tight knot. She loves Amos. Yet she can't forget Billy.

When a "lost" rose is discovered at Rose Hill Farm, Billy is sent to track down its origins. Get in, identify the rose, and get out. That's his plan. The only catch is that he's having a hard time narrowing down the identity of the lost rose, and he can't get those tropical blue eyes of Bess Riehl out of his mind.

As the history of the lost rose is pieced together, it reminds Bess and Billy---and Amos, too---that Christmas truly is the season of miracles.

"Filled with heart-twisting moments amid the sweet anticipation of love, this story will charm readers into the holiday spirit."

My Take:  I have enjoyed every book that I have read by Suzanne Woods Fisher and this book is no exception.  While looking around the greenhouse one day Bess Reihl notices an unnamed rose. Her father decides to contact the local college that has a rose rustler (someone who can help identify roses).  When he arrives the family realizes that he is Billy Lapp an old beau of Bess's and Bess's fiancee's best friend and cousin Amos.   This is a sweet story that has Christmas time as the setting which just seems to make everything more special.

The Revealing by Suzanne Woods Fisher

About the book:

Naomi King, soft spoken, loyal, and easily overlooked, has a gift. She sees what others can't see. Intuition, she calls it. Others in Stoney Ridge don't know what to make of it and dismiss her hunches and inklings altogether.

When a young woman arrives at the Inn at Eagle Hill with a shocking secret about Tobe Schrock, Naomi fears the worst. She can't ignore the feeling that something sinister is at work--- something more than a threat to the tenuous love begun between her and Tobe.

As signs mount, they begin to point to Jake Hertzler, the elusive mastermind behind Schrock Investments' downfall. Soon, events spiral hopelessly out of control and Naomi must decide whether to listen to her head or her heart.

In this riveting conclusion to The Inn at Eagle Hill series, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher pulls out all the stops with a fast-paced tale of deception, revelation, and just the right dose of romance.

My Take:  This is another great installment in the series The Inn at Eagle Hill.  I enjoyed revisiting the characters that live in and around The Inn.  This is the third book in the series and the final book.  Although you don't have to read the other two books to enjoy this book you will want to read them just so you can enjoy these characters that much more.  There are many twists and turns in this book and many of the issues are resolved in ways that you will find enjoyable.  I was kept guessing about alot of the situations that I had no idea how they were going to be resolved but was happen with the resolutions.  I did not want to see this series end as I have grown to love these characters.  A must read for anyone who enjoys Amish fiction.

The Calling by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Book Info
About the book: Book Two in the Inn at Eagle Hill series.

Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher delivers her trademark twists, turns, and tender romance in this delightful and exciting visit to the deceptively quiet community of Stoney Ridge.

Twenty-year-old Bethany Schrock is restless. Her love life has derailed, her faith hangs by a thread, and she is spending the incredibly hot summer days wading through a lifetime's accumulation of junk at the home of five ancient Amish sisters. About the only thing that holds her interest is the spirited and dangerously handsome Jimmy Fisher---and he seems bent on irritating her to no end.

When the sly old sisters and a guest at the Inn get Bethany involved in running the local soup kitchen and starting a community garden, she suddenly finds herself wondering, Shootfire! How did that happen? Despite her newfound purposefulness, a gnawing emptiness about a childhood mystery continues to plague her. Encouraged by Jimmy Fisher, she will seek out the answers she craves---and uncover a shocking secret that will break her heart, heal it, and point her to love.

My Take:  What a wonderful continuation of  this series which was started in The Letters although this book can be read as a stand alone I think you would like to start with The Letters just so you can continue to enjoy the books.  A third book will be coming out this summer.

Seems like every character in this book has strong opinions about things and is willing to voice them.  Jimmy has the easy going charm of a born flirt but can Bethany trust to give her heart away to him after the problems with Jake Hetrzler.  Bethany also wants to find out why her mother ran away all those years ago and ahe just may get the chance when her brother returns home.  Mim also has a secret of her own taking on the role of advice columnist Mrs. Miracle even though she is only 14.  Then there is Geena a youth Pastor that was fired from her job because of difficulty in presenting her sermons in a way that the congregation wanted.  They all come together for a community project that will help the down and out in the community to become a little more self sufficient.  I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book coming out.

The Letters by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Bestselling Amish Specialist Suzanne Woods Fisher Pens New Series

A Family Torn Apart by Investment Fraud Scandal Picks Up the Pieces in First Novel

Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites readers back to Stoney Ridge for a story of refreshment in the midst of the life’s complexities in The Inn at Eagle Hill series. Both a fiction and nonfiction author, Fisher traces her roots back to her grandfather who was raised Plain. She has great respect for the Anabaptists and tries to portray their values through storytelling. “In every book,” Fisher said, “I try to show how to live our lives a little differently. A little better.”
In The Letters,  Fisher writes a touching story of a woman who tries to hold pieces together in the midst of a family business gone sour, missing money and a nosy government investigator, all the while juggling a new business, a budding romance and new family dynamics.
The Letters was inspired by actual events within the Amish-Mennonite community.  An investment company, run by a Mennonite with many Plain investors, defrauded investors of more than $65 million in a Bernie Madoff-esque scandal. Fisher followed the story through the media and noted how the Plain communities cared for those who had been defrauded: rather than file claims with the Securities Exchange Commission to recover lost investments, a donation was taken to reimburse their families.
“It was a striking example,” Fisher said, “of how the Amish care for each other in times of crisis or hardship.” They view money as a tool, she said, not a value. In The Letters, readers step into the family’s point of view in the aftermath of the investment company gone bad—with a few of Fisher’s trademark twists and turns and unexpected events along the way.
Publisher’s Weekly says, “Fans will cheer at this latest offering,” and the New York Book of Journal calls The Letters a “moving faith-driven story.” Leslie Gould, Christy-award winning author, says “I devoured The Letters in one sitting. Suzanne Woods Fisher weaves a cast of authentic characters, real-life problems, and a beautiful setting into a sweet and satisfying story.”

The Letters
The Letters by Suzanne Woods Fisher

from Goodreads.com

Rose Schrock is a plain woman with a simple plan. Determined to find a way to support her family and pay off her late husband's debts, she sets to work to convert the basement of her Amish farmhouse into an inn. While her family, especially her cranky mother-in-law, is unhappy with Rose's big idea, her friend and neighbor, Galen King, supports the decision and he helps with the conversion. As Rose finalizes preparations for visitors, she prays. She asks God to bless each guest who stays at the Inn at Eagle Hill. As the first guest arrives and settles in, Rose is surprised to discover that her entire family is the one who receives the blessings, in the most unexpected ways. And she's even more surprised when that guest decides to play matchmaker for Galen King.
With her signature plot twists combined with gentle Amish romance, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites readers back to Stoney Ridge for fresh stories of simple pleasures despite the complexity of life. Fisher's tale of God's providence and provision will delight her fans and create many new ones. Welcome to the Inn at Eagle Hill.

My Take:  This is the start of another great series by Suzanne Woods Fisher.  In this series we head back to Stoney Ridge and meet some of the characters from the other series but we also meet new characters that will flesh out this series.  I like the way Suzanne explores all the intricate nuisances of the different relationships in this book and how the Amish take care of their families no matter what.   Great start to a new series.

A Big Year For Lily by Mary Ann Kinsinger and Suzanne Woods Fisher

About A Big Year for Lily:

Book Three in the Adventures of Lily Lapp series. Co-written with Mary Kinsinger.

Lily Lapp's family has settled into their new home in Pennsylvania, but life still holds big changes and big steps for Lily. Good changes, like once again living close to her beloved cousin and best friend, Hannah. Bad changes, like a mean girl who plays tricks on her. And no change at all where Lily would most want one--Aaron Yoder sits near her in school and relentlessly teases her. Surprises are in store for Lily as she learns, with Mama and Papa's help, to manage the ups and downs of growing up Amish.

The third of four charming novels that chronicle the gentle way of the Amish through the eyes of a young girl, A Big Year for Lily gives children ages 8-12 a fascinating glimpse into the life of the Amish---and lots of fun and laughter along the way. It combines Mary Ann Kinsinger's real-life stories of growing up Amish and the bestselling writing of Amish fiction and nonfiction author Suzanne Woods Fisher. With charming line drawings in each book, this series captures the hearts of readers young and old.

My Take:  This is the third book in the delightful series of books written for girls ages8-12.  These books take the girls into the everyday life of a young Amish girl and her friends and family.  This book explores alot of the issues kids face today whether they are Amish or not.  Moving to a new place, putting up with pranksters, friends acting different.  This book is also co-written by Suzanne Woods Fisher who has written a couple of book series about the Amish.  I have enjoyed all of the books I have read by her.  I will be keeping these books to give to my grandchildren when they are old enough for them  If you like Amish stories you may just enjoy them yourself.  They are perfect for the age group mentioned above but I think everyone could enjoy them.

The Lesson by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Enter Today - 1/3 - 1/20! Suzanne Woods Fisher The Lesson iPad Giveaway

About The Lesson: Centered on one of Suzanne Woods Fisher's most loved characters, this is the story fans have eagerly anticipated. The precocious M.K. is all grown up (well, almost) and ready to take on the world-with surprising results. Fisher's trademark plot twists and turns are as unexpected and satisfying as ever in this third book in the Stoney Ridge Seasons series. In her wildest dreams, spunky and impulsive nineteen-year-old Mary Kate Lapp never imagined herself behind a schoolteacher's desk. A run-in (literally) with the schoolteacher compels her to act as a substitute teacher, just as her restless desire to see the world compels her to apply for a passport . . . just in case. The only thing of interest to M.K. in the sleepy Amish community of Stoney Ridge is the unexplained death of a sheep farmer that coincided with the arrival of a mysterious young man into the community. Frustrated that no one takes the crime seriously, she takes matters into her own hands. Unfortunately, as tends to be the case for M.K., she jumps headlong into trouble. Meet Suzanne: Suzanne Woods Fisher lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has one husband, four children, one son-in-law, a brand new grand-baby, and a couple of dogs. She graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Suzanne has contracts with Revell for six more books about the Amish, both fiction and non-fiction. She is also the host of "Amish Wisdom·" on toginet.com, a weekly radio program featuring guests who are connected to Simple Living. Find out more about Suzanne at http://suzannewoodsfisher.com/.

My Take:  This book was delightful from beginning to end. It was also a satisfying end to the Lapp Family books.  The book Started out with a bang and kept you on the edge of your seat not with suspense but with wondering what M.K. will come up with next.  Because of an incident that she has with the school teacher she becomes the substitute teacher which she feels is a total injustice.  We also meet Chris and his sister Jenny and we slowly learn what kind of life they have had to live.  I would recommend that you read this book and you will want to start at the beginning.

My Take:  I have enjoyed several of Suzanne Woods Fisher's adult Amish books and was curious to try one that is aimed more for kids.  Having recently become a grandmother, I am constantly on the look out for books that are wholesome and uplifting for my grand daughter.  I think that this book falls into that category. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and it will be saved for when my granddaughter is old enough to read them to her as cuddle time stories and I hope that she will want to read them herself when she can read.  This series follows Lily Lapp in her everyday life as a young Amish girl living in New York.  It is nice to get the child's point of view after all of the adult Amish books I have read.  It was a refreshing change. I also liked the whimsical illustrations that were throughout the book.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a good wholesome read for children.

The Haven by Suzanne Woods Fisher

The Haven
The Haven by Suzanne Woods Fisher

 About the Book:
When Sadie Lapp steps off the bus in Stoney Ridge after being in Ohio for the winter, she is faced with a decision–one that goes against her very essence. Yet it’s the only way she can think of to protect a loved one.

Schoolteacher Gideon Smucker has been crazy about Sadie since boyhood. But his response to her surprising decision undermines his own reputation–and his relationship with Sadie.

College student Will Stoltz is spending the spring at the Lapp farm as a guard for a pair of nesting Peregrine Falcons–courtesy of the Lancaster County Game Warden. Will needs to get his life back on track, but his growing friendship with Sadie threatens his plans.

The lives of these three individuals intertwine, and then unravel as unexpected twists create ripples through the town of Stoney Ridge . . . and through Sadie’s heart.

Once again, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher intrigues and delights with a story that explores the bonds of friendship, family, and true love. Readers will enjoy every surprise in Sadie’s story as they search for the truth hidden within these pages.

Read Chapter 1

Meet Suzanne:
Suzanne Woods Fisher’s interest in the Amish began with her grandfather, W.D. Benedict, who was raised Plain. Suzanne has a great admiration for the Plain people and believes they provide wonderful examples to the world. In both her fiction and non-fiction books, she has an underlying theme: You don’t have to “go Amish” to incorporate many of their principles–simplicity, living with less, appreciating nature, forgiving others more readily– into your life.

When Suzanne isn’t writing or bragging to her friends about her first new grandbaby (!), she is raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

To Suzanne’s way of thinking, you just can’t take life too seriously when a puppy is tearing through your house with someone’s underwear in its mouth. Suzanne can be found on-line at: www.suzannewoodsfisher.com.

My Take:

I have really enjoyed all the books that I have read by Suzanne
Woods Fisher and this one is no exception.  I was drawn into the story with the first chapter.  All of the characters are ones that you come to care about and worry about.  There is a bit of comical relief every once in a while also.  I like the way that all the characters have the same flaws that we do.  I think alot of times we think others are above us in different areas but Suzanne makes it perfectly clear that we all have areas we need to work on.  Like the way the Amish community jumps to some wrong conclusions when Sadie returns home with a special surprise.
This book isn't just an Amish romance either it has some mystery and suspense wrapped into it.

If you have enjoyed Amish fiction in the past I think you will enjoy this book.  Also I think you will enjoy it if you just like a good book because this certainly is a good book. Check out the contest below .

About the book:
Jaime and C. J. Fitzpatrick began their married life as most couples do--in love and looking forward to a bright future together. But four years later they've drifted apart and are almost ready to call it quits.

Mattie Riehl was hoping to give her husband Sol the Christmas gift they have both longed for--news that a baby was on the way. But as usual, she is disappointed. The holidays bring an acute awareness to Mattie that her dream of a big family isn't likely to become a reality.

Then a winter storm raging outside blows the Fitzpatricks into the Riehl home--and into a much slower pace of life. Can these two couples from different worlds help each other understand the true meaning of love this Christmas?

With her trademark plot twists and attention to detail, Suzanne Woods Fisher offers readers a beautiful Christmas story of love, forgiveness, and what truly matters in life.

My Take:  I really enjoyed the other books that I have read by Suzanne Woods Fisher.  This book is just the perfect size for reading around the holidays.  It is a fast enjoyable read that will make you stop and think about what is really important during the holiday season.  She has written another winner!!

The Choice by Suzanne Woods Fisher

The Choice (Lancaster County Secrets, Book 1)
The Choice by Suzanne Woods Fisher

From Goodread:
Lancaster County has always been her home--but where does her heart belong?

I had read the other two books in this series so when Kindle offered as a free book I downloaded it.  Just like the other books in this series The Choice is filled with love, family, tragedy and hope.

I really enjoyed this book although I never warmed up to the character of Sol.  I thought he was a selfish boy/man  and didn't really care about Carrie.  Carrie took some time to warm up to but by the end of the book I was hopeing that everything worked out for her.

Seems like Carrie just kept getting blow after blow in her life.  She was a very strong woman to persevere and keep going.

If you like Amish Fiction but want a little more this is the series for you. The other books are;

Now in her mid-twenties, she is poised to go to culinary school when her car breaks down in Stoney Ridge, the very Amish town in which her long-reaching decision was made, forcing her to face the shadowed past.

Bess Reihl is less than thrilled to be spending the summer at Rose Hill Farm with her large and intimidating grandmother, Bertha. It quickly becomes clear that she is there to work the farm--and work hard. The labor is made slightly more tolerable by the time it affords Bess to spend with the handsome hired hand, Billy Lapp. But he only has eyes for a flirty and curvaceous older girl.

Lainey's and Bess's worlds are about to collide and the secrets that come to light will shock them both.

"Beautifully written, 'The Search' is a skillfully woven story that takes readers through unexpected twists and turns on the long country road toward truth. Fans both old and new will find themselves immersed in this heartwarming--and surprising--tale of young love, forgiveness, and coming to grips with the past."

About Suzanne:

In no particular order, Suzanne Woods Fisher is a wife, mother, writer, lifelong student of the Bible, raiser of puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a gardener and a cook...the latter two with sporadic results.

Suzanne has loved to write since she was a young teen. After college, she started to write for magazines and became a contributing editor for Christian Parenting Today magazine. Her family moved to Hong Kong for four years, just as the internet was developing, and she continued to write articles in a 44-story high-rise apartment, sending manuscripts 7,000 miles away with a click of a key.

After returning from Hong Kong, Suzanne decided to give her first novel a try. For four and a half months, she worked on an antediluvian computer in a cramped laundry room. She didn't even tell her husband what she was up to. When the novel was completed, she told her family at dinner one night that she had written a book. "That's why there's no food in this house!" said her slightly insensitive sons.

Undaunted...Suzanne found a small royalty publisher for that book and wrote three more (all earned multiple awards). With help from an agent, she now has numerous books under contract with Revell. Also look for Suzanne's Amish non-fiction, Amish Peace: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World, a non-fiction book of stories and examples about the Old Order Amish, as well as Amish Proverbs, and coming in Spring of 2011, look for Amish Values for Your Family. The Choice and The Waiting are the previous books in the Lancaster County Secrets Collection.

Writing, for Suzanne, is a way to express a love of God and His word. With every book or article, she hopes readers get a sense of what faith really looks like in the daily grind. She hopes they realize that life can be hard, but God is good, and never to confuse the two.

My Take:  I really liked this book alot.  I spent the last two days reading it and found it very hard to put down.  This book had it all romance, love and mystery.  It even had humor with the grandmother determined to get arrested so she could get one phone call (she's Amish so no phone).  Great Story and great story telling.  I would highly recommend if you like Amish books and even if you don't but like a well crafted story with a satisfying ending.   The book didn't quite ended the way that I thought it would but I was satisfied with the ending.    Even though this is part of a series the books are totally stand alone books and you don't have to have read the others to read this one.  (but you will want to after having read The Search).

Charlene at Quintessentially Quilly ;If you are looking for a read that will suck you in an make you hold your breath from beginning to end, you are looking for The Search, by Suzanne Woods Fisher. The twists and turns in this book will keep you turning page after page as you both dread and anticipate the outcome. Suzanne Woods Fisher is a master at creating intricate plots and subplots and creating true to life characters able to make the reader laugh and cry.

Melanie at The Ramblings of Two Readers ;The Search is a quick and enjoyable read that offers a departure from the more formulaic Amish novels that I have read in the past. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Characters from The Choice and The Waiting make appearances in The Search, but each novel focuses on different characters and situations. Suzanne Woods Fisher reintroduced me to Amish fiction, and I plan to read The Choice and The Waiting.

Wendi's Book Corner - Rainy Day Reads in Seattle The Search is another beautifully written and developed Amish fiction book by Suzanne Woods Fisher that will touch your heart and keep you coming back for more. She writes with such warmth and depth, bringing her characters to life and shining a gentle spotlight on the Amish beliefs and way of living. I always finish reading her books with a little smile on my face.

Wendy at wall-to-wall books Well it is no big surprise that Suzanne Woods Fisher does it again in her third book in the "Lancaster County Secrets Series". I had the privilege of reading all three books, and I loved every one.

Tina’s Book Reviews This was my first Amish fiction read for 2011 and Fisher once again...does not disappoint! Suzanne has a knack for writing wholesome yet real Amish story’s that take you into a more quiet place with in-depth writing, beautiful romances and charming characters. Full of humor and heart touching scenarios, The Search is a lovely Amish tale you don’t want to miss.

Sarah at Mommy's Minute I felt that the story was interesting. I think Fisher did a good job of keeping the reader interested in the story. The character of Bess develops from a self-focused child into a maturing young adult. Things did not end exactly the way I anticipated, which is a good thing in my book.

The Waiting by Suzanne Woods Fisher blog tour and giveaway

Waiting, The: A Novel (Lancaster County Secrets)
The Waiting by Suzanne Woods Fisher

About The Waiting: Book 2 in the Lancaster Secrets Collection
Book 2 in The Lancaster Secrets collection and hot on the heals of the best-selling The Choice, The Waiting, a stand alone story, is a compelling page turner. Jorie King has been waiting for Benjamin Zook to return home to Lancaster County so they can marry. When news arrives that Ben has been killed, Jorie finds comfort in the friendship of his brother Caleb. That friendship ripens into love, and it seems that they are meant to be together. But when the unexpected happens, their worlds are turned upside down once more. Will Jorie trust God to lead her into the arms of a new man?

A multifaceted story about complex people living the simple life. Readers will find themselves transported into the world of the Amish and deeply invested in these wonderful characters.

About Suzanne Woods Fisher: Suzanne Woods Fisher is the CBA bestselling author of The Choice, The Waiting, Amish Peace, and Amish Proverbs. Her interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Benedict eventually became publisher of Christianity Today magazine. Suzanne is the host of a radio show called Amish Wisdom and her work has appeared in many magazines. She lives in California. Find out more about Suzanne at http://www.suzannewoodsfisher.com/

My Take:

This was the main book that I read doing this past weekend for Dewey's read a thon. I was really glad that I saved it.  Even thought this is the second book in a series it stands very well on it's own.  I found myself identifying with Jorie as people misjudge and second guessed her about the way she was teaching the children in the school (as I am sure all homeschoolers and teachers have been through this).
I was learned some new things about the Amish that I didn't know before.  The whole conscientious objector angle hasn't really been mentioned in any of the books I have read before.  I have read many Amish series and I think that this is one of the best.  I will definitely be picking up the first in the series

The Choice (Lancaster County Secrets, Book 1)

And will be looking forward to the next one

The Waiting is another stellar book from her hand. I had a hard time putting this book down, and it kept my attention riveted until the last page. While it isn't a suspense book, Suzanne managed to keep me in suspense over the resolution of the story until the last pages. This is a beautiful story of family, friendship, love, and loyalty, all under the umbrella of trust in God's sovereignty and care. There are a plethora of Amish books on the market, but this one stands out as one of the best.

It's a story about choices and regrets, grief and loss, and love. The characters are likeable and endearing. Ephraim is delightful.
