Miranda is a real estate agent in the Blue Ridge Mountains and she solved a mystery in the previous book so her cousin Skip has shown up wanting her help as he has had his cat has been catnapped because of some claims Skip made on a late night radio show that he was doing for a friend. Miranda agrees to help get Skip's cat back but the deeper she gets into the case the more she finds out that all the claims are not just made up. This was a wild ride and kept me guessing from start to finish. I would recommend this book if you are life me and like your mysteries a bit on the cozy side. I received a review copy of this book from Virtual Author Book Tours and was not required to write a positive review.

Picking up speed, she passed the rows of Victorian houses with their pilastered front porches and attached shutters in homage to last century’s Colonial Revival. She’d grown up here, always lived here except for college and her transatlantic jaunts. But at this moment, her village might as well be a scattering of old photos.
Before she knew it, the rain was beating down harder, her wiper blades barely able to keep up. Among the nagging questions flitting through her mind was how could Miranda Shaw have suddenly gotten wind of her leaking roof? Or did somebody just put her up to it, to get Chris rushing pell- mell in the rain so he would...
Emily eased her foot off the pedal, barely able to see through the downpour. She switched the wipers on high and kept her eyes on the road, intent on avoiding an accident.
Minutes later, she pulled into Miranda Shaw’s place at a slow but steady crawl. As she reached the circular drive, straining her eyes through the thwacking blades, she peered up two stories above the stone archway.
There she caught sight of the familiar gangly figure climbing higher toward the peak of an eight-sided turret. At a point where the grayish-blue slate, copper flashing, and a mullioned window merged, the figure suddenly became a shuddering blur.

My Take:  I have a hard time with British Mysteries.I don't know if it's because they are all proper and such.  But any way this is a British Style mystery with an American as the amateur sleuth.  The story has a fast pace which helped with the main problem I have with British Mysteries that they seem so slow and plodding.  This one definitely did not have that problem. I did have a bit of trouble keeping up with the story.  I felt that at times there was an info dump and then that info wasn't explained.  I hope that any further stories in this series would be a bit more clear on the info and what is happening.
