My take:  What a roller coaster ride of a book.  I loved all the intricate personal relationships and how each relationship was in some way affected by the incident that happens in the first chapter.  How one devistating incident can affect other generations to come is very well represented in this book.  I liked the mystery that was involved in this book along with the relationship between the mothers and daughters and the grandmother and granddaughter.  I hope to have relationships with my grandchildren like the one depicted in this book.  I can see this book being loaned to others but not given away because I will want to read this again.  Recommended

My Take:  What a great book.  Lydia takes care of little Nicky when his mother dies.  But then his drug addicted father shows up wanting Nicky but just for the money that he can get to fuel his drug habit. Lydia turns to Micah for help.  As the story goes on their feelings for each other grows but can they find their happily ever after or will the secret that Micah has keep them from it.  Set During World War II  this story brings so many things into play but in a good way.  If you like historical fiction especially set during World War II  I am sure you will like this book.

My Take:  I read a lot of Amish Fiction (if you couldn't tell from most of my reviews).  I am excited to see author starting to focus on other Christian sects like Mennonites.  This book takes a look at what the Mennonites believe and what is different from the rest of the population.  This story has elements that will tug at your heart strings.  It will have you routing both of the main characters on as they each deal with the grief in their lives in their own unique ways.  I liked the relationship that Amy has with her children and how she has to deal with the budding teenage rebellion that her oldest daughter is starting to have about why they can't go to the public swimming pool for example.  I think that Amy handles herself very well considering she is a widow.  I know how difficult it is raising children with a spouse to help, I really admire those parents that do it on their own.

I would recommend this book if you like Amish fiction but what just a slight change of paces.
